Topcon adopts third school

Company reacts to chief construction adviser’s challenge to industry to adopt 100 schools to support teachers and pupils pursuing construction courses.

Topcon GB's joint sponsorship of King Ecgbert's High School in Sheffield and Aston Academy in Birmingham with Arup and Amey has produced some fantastic opportunities to highlight mapping in the classroom.

All schools teaching the design, engineer, construct (DEC!) curriculum receive Topcon equipment as part of the national Adopt A School programme, but these particular schools also have so far had access to the GLS2000 laser scanner, QS robotic total station, HiPer GNSS and Magnet Field software.

Topcon GB has now adopted its third school, the Enterprise South Liverpool Academy, which is located near to the Liverpool office.

The Adopt A School scheme was recently commended by the Government's chief construction adviser Peter Hansford, when he publiclychallenged the British construction industry to adopt 100 schools by the end of last month.
