CLC withdraws updated version of Site Operating Procedures

CLC switches back to original SOP after ‘significant feedback’ from sites across the country.

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has withdrawn the second version of its Site Operating Procedures published just two days ago (1 April), after what is described as “significant feedback” from sites across the country.

The CLC has now recommended the industry complies with the original version of its Site Operating Procedures, as published on 23 March, while the feedback is reviewed.

The news comes as the government confirmed this week that construction sites should continue to operate during the current coronavirus pandemic, and business secretary Alok Sharma also thanked the construction industry for its vital work during the Covid-19 crisis.

Announcing the review, a CLC statement said: “There has been significant feedback on the updated site operating procedures version 2. Whilst the feedback is reviewed the CLC has reissued version 1, which is the document the industry should be complying with.”

The correct version to use is here: Site-Operating-Procedures-23-March-2020 v1
