Speaking at the EIC annual conference CBI director general John Cridland explains why business understands that tackling the issues affecting the environment is critical to success.

"Business knows that it has to do the right thing for the future of the planet," he explains. "But being business men and women they also want to make some money out of it."

"Energy is the one [issue] that stands out - people are increasingly using the energy word rather than the environment word but actually it is two sides of the same coin."

"They have got behind green growth.  It is the market that will deliver the technological solution that will deliver green growth as well as satifying the needs of the scientists."
