Friday webinar to focus on communications in a digital landscape

The Covid-19 crisis has seen business communications change with video meetings become the norm as the use of applications like Zoom and Teams have entered the business and social lexicon. Communicating, negotiating and networking digitally has its challenges but there are many opportunities too, especially for those working in the construction sector.

The latest Infrastructure Intelligence 'Coming out of Covid' webinar on Friday 26 June is looking at "Communications in a new digital landscape" and we have assembled a top panel of leading communications and presentation experts to discuss what best practice communications, networking and negotiating look like in the new increasingly digital world.

One of the speakers, Arcadis corporate communications manager for the UK, Catherine Llewellyn, said: "Comms teams are valued the most during times of uncertainty in the market, as they guide staff and clients through the storms and give clarity when it’s needed the most. Negotiation expert Derek Arden said that it was easy to forget the basics when carrying out business negotiations in an online environment and it was crucial to remember that "the golden rules of negotiation and persuasion still apply even when you're working on a digital platform," he said. "If anything, these rules are even more important online if you are to achieve the desired outcome," said Arden. "At Friday's webinar I will be highlighting the key issues around negotiating that you need to bear in mind and I'll also reveal my seven top tips for engineers or anyone else taking part in online negotiations," he said.

Jamie Gordon, director of infrastructure and energy at communications agency BECG, said: "While there is no doubt the pandemic has restricted us all, it’s also highlighted and fast-tracked a different way of working and the solution has been to operate digitally. Teams, Zoom and Skype have become commonplace and webinars have sprung up everywhere. This different way of working could mean more engagement not less, more collaboration due to a lack of geographic boundaries and even more knowledge sharing."
