Stantec opens its new Cumbrian office

Stantec has opened a new office space in the Cumberland town of Cleator Moor.

Stantec has opened a new office space in the Cumbrian town of Cleator Moor.

The new office is part of the sustainable engineering and design company’s ambitious UK and Ireland growth strategy.

The firm currently employs more than 27,000 people worldwide, with over 3,000 of them based in the UK.

The move into its new office on Earl Street reflects Stantec’s longstanding commitment to the Cumbrian region and the people who live and work there.

The company has helped improve connections for remote pumping stations for United Utilities, worked with NuGen on planning and permitting activity, and supported Low Level Waste Repository with programme management. Stantec has also worked closely with Sellafield, ensuring the multi-function nuclear site was able to prioritise investments across its portfolio.

Stantec’s framework manager, Neil Crellin, said: “Our new office space in Cleator Moor will allow us to lay down roots and firmly establish our presence in the region while deepening ties with local clients and partners.

“My family has long been a part of Cumbria’s past, it’s good to think that I can be part of its bright future. I’m very much looking forward to building on our commitments to communities in and around Cumbria, but also enjoying the incredible countryside in this beautiful corner of the world.”

Stantec will have a new home in the same office as REACT Engineering in Phoenix Court. The two companies already work together, combining the global experience of Stantec with the specialist capability of REACT as a prominent enterprise in the local area. This new shared space will enable further collaboration, helping the firms support each other on local and national business opportunities.

Phil Redfern, managing director of REACT Engineering, added: “We’ve been collaborating with Stantec for several years and it’s fantastic to see such a prestigious global organisation establish a local presence in the town of Cleator Moor. I’m excited about what the future holds in terms of supporting each other on new business opportunities and I am looking forward to further strengthening our working relationship.”
