Osborne looks to Thrive to improve social value outputs

Construction company Osborne has ramped up its sustainability strategy by appointing Thrive Social Value to efficiently measure their social value performance and gain a better understanding of the financial value that they derive from that.

As part of the company’s broader sustainability strategy, Osborne has partnered with Thrive Social Value, using their software to capture and measure the huge scope of their social and environmental impacts. Osborne is also using Thrive’s framework to show a financial return on the work that they do, making it easier to demonstrate this to their stakeholders with live transparent reporting and data.

As a family-owned business, creating positive outcomes for people and their local area is a key driver for Osborne and is aligned to their core values and culture. Social value is considered in all aspects of the business from local recruitment, local supply chain partners, upgrading community facilities, equipment and material procurements, providing works placement, appointing apprenticeships to supporting a local cause. But as well as local and personal benefits, the company is keen to ensure that positive outcomes are calculated and financial value is understood.

Jo Fletcher, head of engagement for Osborne said: “Thrive will ensure that our social value data will be captured, enabling us to provide governance around how we collect this information and report on the impact. Covid-19 has had a devastating effect on the world, businesses, communities and individuals and now more than ever we need a sense of social solidarity to fight back and build our communities again. The government has issued a PPN06/20 in response to Covid to ensure that public procurement is doing its bit to contribute to society. We are well equipped to support the government framework as Thrive has consulted with social value experts to adopt the framework in its entirety”.

Neil Macdonald, CEO at Thrive Social Value, commented: “It is great to be working with a company who are looking to make a real difference in their communities and supply chain. Creating, measuring and improving social value from their activities is key to Osborne’s approach and our system makes this easier, more practical and more tangible to all involved.”

Thrive Social Value are leaders in data collection and impact measurement software. Their social value software platform helps collect, value and demonstrate the positive impacts that organisations are creating. With an emphasis on the construction industry, the software can help a company differentiate itself at bid stage and throughout the project life cycle. This is done by best-in-class software and built-in social value metrics, aligned with UK government guidance and developed in conjunction with a range of social value bodies and thought leaders.
