RSK Group announces acquisition of Ecologia

The RSK Group has added to its growing portfolio by announcing the acquisition of Ecologia Environmental Solutions Ltd. The multidisciplinary site remediation specialist is the sixth acquisition for the rapidly expanding RSK group this financial year.

Founded in 2000, with headquarters in Sittingbourne, Kent, further UK offices in Stafford and Devon, and an office in Bologna, Italy, Ecologia provides services in contaminated land consultancy, site investigation and remediation, and specialised support for environmental claims.

Ecologia has previously supported RSK on a range of projects, most recently in Africa and the Dominican Republic. Joining forces, say RSK, will enable the group to strengthen its internal site remediation resources and equipment, grow its remediation capability and expand into new markets. With a base in Italy and extensive international experience, Ecologia also strengthens RSK’s international expansion across Europe.

“RSK has already developed a good working relationship with Ecologia,” said RSK chief executive officer and founder Alan Ryder. “It is a fantastic company that will complement RSK’s existing businesses, such as RemedX. Ecologia’s spill response work and experience in the insurance market will also complement RSK Response and RSK Raw. I am delighted to welcome Ecologia to the group and look forward to exploring new opportunities for us all.”

Ecologia will join RSK’s contracting division under the direction of RSK divisional director Claire Knighton: the third new acquisition to the division in recent months following RAW Technology Ltd in July and Geocore Site Investigations in August. Ecologia will continue to be led by current managing director Giacomo Maini.

Maini said: “Ecologia has an established and growing reputation in the contaminated land industry. We are looking forward to taking the next step with the support of RSK’s vast internal network and central resources. Joining forces will enable us to develop our core activities, expand our services and provide new opportunities for our employees.”

Ecologia is the latest acquisition under RSK’s funding package from Ares Capital Europe and a revolving credit facility provided by NatWest announced in December 2018. RSK is investing in the development of new businesses, bolt-on complementary businesses, equipment and capabilities to increase its services and expand internationally. RSK now employs more than 3,500 staff in 100 offices worldwide and has an annual turnover in excess of £250m.
